the usage of gps, sometimes need one internet connection, not the wap one. you just need the apn (on portuguese vodafone it is internet.vodafone.pt, other networks are just internet, etc) then, on the apps list menu, you press the 'options' softkey, go to java settings, and select the profile you created.
the first gps alignment, can take up to one hour and need to be outdoor, and in the same place. you can use the inbuilt java app "vdo navigation" select the 3rd option, and sroll all to right, untill you see the satellite informations (will be with a red cross if no satellite as been found, and no coordinates data), then, you leave it there. for that info you don't need to be connected to web.

I got GPS info from VDO navigation, I left it outdoors for a while, I think it didn't take more than couple of minutes. Less than ten I think. I should have tried it before.
I called to helpdesk and I got the worst consumer service ever. The woman in the phone thought that siemens still makes phones... well yes, wireless phones... gigasets. She didn't even understand when I started to talk about settings. I sent an email to consumer service, hopefully it will get better response.
Thank You Sand for your answers.

Omg it works with Opera, but the phones browser doesn't work. The trick was that "guest" login and pw. Still the phones own browser would need also the "interner-profile". It should be wap right? There is setting sin the saunalahti's support pages, but... Well, I will try to get it to work... tried to download nav4all, but it needs that phones phones browser to download. Now it has been trying something like 5 minutes.
Altough, VERY MUCH THANK YOU SAND! exalt...

Long brake... but back again. My phone is booting in various situations. For example when I get new SMS and try to open it, sometimes it just boots. I have problmes with the side keys too, they are too sensitive and sometimes phone just goes crazy when the buttons are pressed accidentally (this is common problem right?). One other problemo too.. Phone shuts off with no reason. Many times it just has black screen and its off. Could it be that the batteries are so poor quality? I have two replacement batteries and both of them are doing it. I still think that it has nothing to do with battery. Now I would like to do an update but I have forgot how I can keep it finnish and make the update... Any way to keep sms:s in phone?

i recommend one complete update, the one that erases everything, including, the sms's. when the phone reach near 500 sms in total, he gets crazy.

Is there any chance to remove that question on startup where phone asks if I want to turn it on?

yes! you have to disable the nv item 2985! www.jirkab.webzdarma.cz/nvitems.htmlyou will need tools like QPST 2.7 build 215 or greater, and one tool called NV editor, this one, easy to use. www.siemensplanet.com/SandStorm/progs/NVeditor.zipsome simple generic instructions: Now, launch the QPST configurator. Click on "add new port" Type the port number your phone is using now. (you put it COM5, COM10, etc, its just one example) Now, lets download NV editor, given in the previous link launch the NV editor, maximize the window. on connect, select the com port, and press connect server. press the file button and select upload all from mobile Then, press the search button, and type "2985" Move the file to the "selected" window. Once you double click it, in another window you will see fields with 1 Change the to 0. also, change the string value to "true" Now, you press the "file" button and press "download selected & active to mobile" Disconnect the server, close the program, unplug the phone, and restart the phone.

Then... anyway to get rid of those turn on and turn off animations? Any possibility to chance the Siemens logo on startup to white with black background?

the animations are theme dependent.
the siemens logo, yes, it might be possible, even if at the moment, i am unsure where it is located, because it isn't a jpg, gif or png image, it is coded inside one *.bar file.

Now I start to feel like a stupid. This is The first time I got the "in-phone" browser to work. I felt some kind of enlightment of the mms, wap, and http profiles! And one and only who I wish to thank is.... who else than SansdStorm, aloha to you my bro I was tumbling on the darkness, but you have showed me the little bursts of light and now I have seen... (how long I should keep this going, you already think I am nuts...) Well, I didn't quite go to sleep last night so pardon me. But I am so d**n happy. I have been living with that sxg for a long while but haven't exactly found it so good. But hopefully I'll get some decent 3rd party browser too (Opera? I don't like the key mappings so much). I should take time and clear it to myself how to get trekbuddy and nav4all working... I have made an update + cleaned + installed some Silver Anthracite theme... feels more stable. For now on I try to behave myself with my sxg and embrace it so it would perform better, and I will not mock its bad points and try to forget them. Sorry folks, this post makes no much sense. As I said I should go to sleep. Now. Or never... buah hah haa. *slaps himself on the face* I'll go now... Later

Now, after a fine sleep...
I have two major problems. Nav4All and TrekBuddy. Neither of them are working.
I tried to download Nav4All with the phone browser. It asks about installing -> I press yes -> Starts download (Downloading Nav4All 29 secs left 0 KB of 414 KB) -> HTTP Error: 403 Forbidden -> I press Retry -> same thing happens -> I press cancel -> "Processing" -> "Unable to complete dowload"
TrekBuddy does install (tried installing with BMC) and show on the app menu but when I try to start it just flashes white screen for second or two. I read somewhere that some kind of alteration would be needed for jad file... I didn't manage to do it. It has done the same thing everytime.
PLZ HELP!

once you configured this: ------------------------- Full internet access aka HTTP 1-> Menu - settings - connectivity - connect profiles: - options - edit Profile name-> Saunalahti NET APN -> internet.saunalahti LOGIN -> guest Pass-> guest Autentication-> secured (normal might go too) save it. ------------------------ Then, go to your apps menu. Press options. Go to 'java settings' select the connection profile "Saunalahti NET" press options again. press save. Now, you shall be able to download nav4all. about treckbuddy, i don't use it, but have here somewhere one JAD file that works with it. If needed, i upload both JAD and JAR.
