That's unexpected! AFAIK the only candybar phones with EDGE are the E71 and the S75, and only the former doesn't have IrDA...
Oh well, I now have 24 hours to think.

BenQ-Siemens C81?

YES! That's right!!!! Got this phone on ebay, it still have the display foil in it. Yet, have some small differences from the normal c81's. The plastic incertion around the camera is transparent and does not have that white thing around. Have no imei number on the chassis neither modelname sticker. instead have another sticker with a kind of code. the battery and charger just say "siemens", not benq siemens. The softkeys and accept\hang call keys are not lit.
but it have FW51 in it and the imei is 350xxxxxxxxxxxx, it doens't have prototype imei... maybe is a pre-release unit, I don't know...

Wow, weird!
Also weird is that my S65 also has the camera ring transparent instead of chromed... And maybe the keypad can be replaced?
Also, I went straight for the E71 because I had totally forgotten that the C81 and the M81 existed, shame on me!

I haven't disassembled mine yet, but can happen that the keys doesn't have the transparent part to allow the light to be show off, or maybe the leds are non existent either. o.O

If I had a C81 we could find out. Anyway, I find it odd that I regularly check eBay for phones, but never came across your C81. Our search strings/areas/whatever apparently don't intersect. And that ends up being for the better, because that way we don't interfere with each other's auctions and so don't drive the final price up unnecessarily.

mine was bought in december. was 16 euros, and wasn't available to portugal either. but the seller was kind enough to send it. i always use the german ebay for phones, and that yields more results. even those that weren't supposed to come to us. was just 16 euro anyway xD

Yeah, I search on the British eBay; even though I choose all countries, it seems it still filters out some stuff. Mostly I get "joblots", with bunches of faulty phones from all brands, in which the Siemens phones are almost always A55's or MC60's.
