I'm Claudio, italian, and I have bought a good Benq-Siemens EF91 from Germany. To change the lenguages of the phone I performed a firmware upgrade BUT there was an error message during the operation. I didn't know what to do and I did the (I think) wrost thing: I detached the battery!!! Now my EF91 is completely dead. If I try to connect it to my PC using USB cable it remains off without any sign of life. Is it copletely LOST??? Is it something that I can do?? PLEASE HELP ME!!!

1-> is it really the EF91? the only place you get FW for EF91 is on landy's, as fae as i know, and the version is 1.10
2-> if it is really the EF91, you need one data cable called DIP-102 only this cable will perform one upgrade.
3-> good luck.

Yes, it is the EF91 model. I bought it on ebay from a German user.
I downloaded the FW from landys. I used to upload the FW the EF91_XQT software by the USB cable provided with the phone (I received from Germany the phone "as new" with its box and all accessories).
Do I need a different cable?

As far as i know, you don't need DIP-102 but just DIP-100 which should be available in europe. DIP-102 is only need for updating "classic" benq-platform phones, not for S81, EF91.

Sorry SandStorm. For f. EF91 is the DIP-100, which comes with EF91 the right cable... NOT DIP-102 needed. Problem with EF91. The available Firmware 1.10 seems not work with every EF91... There are 2 Versions included: International Central Estern Europe... Warning!!! The partition.mbn which is different between these Versions. Could the reason, that the EF91 is dead after Update!!! But also many user can update without problems... Strange.

there must be a trick. i wish i had one EF91 to try, but, dunno if the trick used for other phones (the red button pushed for hald second, while pressing the start on the updater) works on this phone.

very few EF91's were sold, we don't have that big experience with your model. By some reasons: It is a totally made BenQ phone, and benq phones are harder to patch, work around than siemens phones. i am sorry, but i am unable to help you properly with this phone...
Don't trash it, keep it, as collectors item...

Today I found, casually, my dead EF91 and, now, I'm wondering if in these months something happened and someone knows a trick to reanimate my EF91...

Are you talking about a firewire cable? Could an adapter usb-to-serial or usb-to-firewire works for me?? Thanks again!
