Will a WinSwup flash remove everything in the phone, like contacts, files etc?
Never done a WinSwup flash before, will be first time this weekend.

That depend from the phone. basically wonswups are like official updates, but made in one way more technical It will keep your phonebook, tones, etc is is done to x65 phones for example. But if ever done to one SX1, it will clear everything

OK. Then is it possible to use WinSwup on a M55 to flash it to a M55C?

If the phone didn't refuse it, then yes, is possible. Just to give you one example, I had to change my M6V model on bootcore area to M65, and only by this i could load the standart M65 FW. Btw, i'll seek more info

How do I change that? I have V_Klay, Smelter and some hex editors.

On my M65 I used the x65 flasher the tool used on the tutorial to generate the bootkeys from [ here] (the one used on tutorial and not the newer version)

I can explain how to do on M65 for example. When u connect the phone again on x65 flasher, you press the "advanced" button, and then, select the "change model" On M55 will be different for sure.

That is also one option. start the FW, and then, open it w\ the ram editor. finding, and replacing all M55C to M55

Well, try to use the M55C winswup on it, same or higher version It will do one message like this: "error! you are trying to upgrade one M55 w\ M55C firmware, consistention problem, proceed?" Just click yes

Oh yes, 115200 baudrate speed is the one i use, and recomended! But if you did it w\ lower, there is no problem, beside will be slower. Very high speeds can be dangerous sometimes...
