Hi, I'm trying to use winswup (M55_110101_service.EXE) downloaded from eh.student.utwente.nl/~landy/index.php?dir=M55_M55C/&file=M55_110101.zipto resurrect my M55. After a firmware upgrade failed it's dead and does not turn on nor does anything. Thus I've checked the "skip" box of the pre-check stage of the winswup tool but it still does not work and after a while says me "Error on waiting for Ack EOT" which I suppose means "acknowledge of end-of-transmission" - not a good sign ! I tried also to press briefly the on-off button of the phone but without any result. I've tried different speeds and in one of my test I got the message "Cant connect to Mobile with BootstrapLoader on Com 2".... I really don't know how to proceed. Thanks a lot for any hint! Francesco

Hello, and welcome to this forum! Why do you want to install FW11 while FW91 is available? Why don't you download the FW91 version instead? M55_9101xx You can find out here how you use winswups here: sandstormrs.proboards105.com/index.cgi?board=ws&action=display&thread=1147738186But I think you have already read it... When my M75 was once dead, the only thing that worked for me was the original Siemens updater...

Thanks a lot for all your help, but even after downloading the correct file for my language (it tooks a little - the site was busy): M55_910606_service.EXE, I'm still having the same problems I described above: after a while winswup says me "Error on waiting for Ack EOT".
BTW I should mention that I'm using a USB data cable which is not the 'official one' and which a friend of mine (with same cellphone model) used without problems (but maybe he never tried to do a firmware upgrade!)
Thanks! Francesco

Hmm... this is something for SandStorm (admin).
Btw, have you tried to uncheck precheck and procheck?
The cable might be the problem. What cable is it? Unoriginal DCA-510?

Hmm... this is something for SandStorm (admin). Btw, have you tried to uncheck precheck and procheck? I've tried all possible permutations If I do not check the "skip precheck" checkbox , I get the "Could not Ping Mobile" message. If I check it, it now says nothing but all progress bars are empty (no progress). With the help of my friend (which bought the cable not long ago) I've traced that the cable was bought on ebay in an insertion similar to: cgi.ebay.it/CAVO-DATI-USB-SIEMENS-C55-C60-C62-M55-S55-SL55-GA4_W0QQitemZ320013099902QQihZ011QQcategoryZ50329QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItemIf I go in Win's control panel I get it named: "MS3303H USB-to-Serial Bridge (COM4)"...

I guess you have to wait for SandStorm to help you.

All you have to do is: -> make sure you had the battery charged (i suppose you had) -> phone connected to the computer -> start winswup -> go to congig, set the com port to your com port (if you have the option of usb there, select it) -> baudrate to 115200 -> ok -> check the precheck and postcheck boxes -> press start update, and then, press the turn on button of the phone, briefly (without turning it on) ATTENTION! The FW you downloaded (M55_91 0606_service.EXE) have one language different from your (M55_11 0101_service.EXE) FW! Make sure to download one w\ the same lang pack as yours.

Hi all, thanks for all the help - however I've received the reply from vendor of the cable. They told me that the cable can't be used for firmware upgrade and I suppose it cannot be used with winswup too as no matter what I do, the progress bars of winswup are always stopped. The battery is charged as if I try with a tester to measure its voltage the tester says 4.1 volt (namely they should be 3.6 so I think it's fully charged) but doing all the steps you mentioned I always get "Error on waiting for Ack EOT" I think I'll just have to bought a new phone... or a new cable. Thanks! Francesco

Ah... That's pitiful You can try to give it to the Service Center if it's still within warranty.

The battery voltage is correct, do not worry. 3.6V is the minimal recomended power. When they go below that, to 3.5, or even 3.4, the phone don't turn on, or beeps. When reach 3.0, it enter the deep discharge mnode, and the LI-ION batteries hate that, because will damage them.
