Notes.
Who is this page for?
This page may be of use to Siemens S75 owners who have fw10 installed but are unable to update to fw13 or newer.
Follow these instructions at your own risk. The instructions do not modify your phone except for running the official Siemens upgrade. If something goes wrong during the update process, you will need to contact Siemens.
What you need.
1. You need the program called Papua Utils version 0.74. It is available at
papuas.allsiemens.com/PapuaUtils.htm2. You need an official Siemens DCA-510 cable. It must be a DCA-510, not DCA-500 or DCA-540.
Step 1.
Plug in your S75 phone to the cable. Check that the cable works fine using Siemens MPM etc. Exit MPM and move to step 2.
Step 2.
Turn off your S75. Ensure that you keep it connected to the cable.
Step 3.
Open Papua Utils. You will see the following screen.
(WARNING - If you don't know what you are doing - DO NOT press any buttons in Papua Utils other than those shown in this tutorial - you may damage your phone!)
Step 4.
Select the Com Port the cable is installed on. I have read that the com port number needs to be quite low - so hopefully your cable is installed and running on a low number (e.g. COM 3).
Step 5.
Ensure that your cable has the load function switched 'OFF'.
The S75 should be plugged in and switched OFF.
Click the button called 'Service Mode' as shown below. Just after you click it, click the red power button on the S75 a couple of times.
Step 6.
Your phone should light up and go into Service Mode. If not - try repeat Step 5 again.
Unplug the S75 phone from the DCA-510 cable. Close Papua Utils.
Keep the phone unplugged and in Service Mode. Open the Siemens FW13 update program you have downloaded from the Siemens website.
You should see the screen below:
Step 7.
Select the language - preferably English. Click Start.
Step 8.
You will need to agree to the terms. Click Continue.
Step 9.
Your mobile should still be unplugged and in Service Mode. Leave it like that. Click Continue.
Step 10.
Wait for the Siemens update to search the Com Ports.
Step 11.
The program will not find your S75 as it is still unplugged. Click Continue, in order to do a manual update.
Step 12.
Leave your mobile switched on in Service Mode. Do not plug it in yet. Click continue.
Step 13.
Select the COM Port that your DCA-510 cable is installed on. I've read that the lower the COM number the better. So hopefully yours is on a low number (e.g. COM 3). Click Continue.
Step 14.
Don't plug in the phone yet. Click Continue.
Step 15.
Wait for the application to initialise.
Step 16.
Your phone should still be on Service Mode. Plug it in when you see the screen below.
The Siemens update program should then detect your S75 phone and start the update! Good Luck!
