Few words of introduction.
Finally after boring Samsung Bang & Olufsen – Serene, I came to SL75, well from one hand it is something like 800 dollars cheaper phone, on other hand it is cute, I like it very much, I was searching for a phone for some time before I probably switch to 3G, and there was only one worth it - the SL75. After Serene which is worth 1000 usd I can clearly sense the build quality and materials and that’s why I didn’t go for SE phones and any others. Serene is a masterpiece and I would recommend it to every one searching for s status phone, I was using it for one year and it didn’t ever freeze or gave me any disappointment, yet as a designer I always was obsessed with customizing and making my own menus and themes.
I first made it with SL55, idea of a simple inversion for a black phone satisfied me and finally dispelled my disappointment in how the colors were displayed on sl55. I was surprised how many e-mail I’ve received after creating it asking me to send them that theme, some were even asking about the price. Now I see a pretty well grown community around latest and probably last Siemens phones, so I decided to write you every thing in details and share my idea while creating a new theme for sl75. This time I turned down the same inversion theme because of many reasons, some are: phone construction – the actual display is located too low from the phone surface so if we use inversion we wouldn’t have an illusion of letters displayed on a actual surface of the phone, we still see that there is a display, even in spite of the fact that SL75 displays black very good especially if illumination is set to 10 %. One more reason was the fact that x75 series is quite advanced from technological point of view, it displays more information on screen and the screen is colorful enough to use vivid ideas.
HARUPI theme.
it is only for SL75 because as a product and web designer I started to work on it considering the idea of a phone, its form, and available colors. In other words for other x75 phone I would make other themes, a unique one for each of them. I have a black sl75 and quite believe that Harupi looks better on the black phones, I would use some pink color for background decoration in case of polar white. Yet silver ones should be quite compatible with Harupi in stylistic aspects.
What is it about.
Custom themes are usually made around some things its creater likes like a brand or a movie, yet Harupi theme is created professionally with the idea of phone itself, I just imagined that siemens comes to and asks to create a theme for sl75, and exploring the phone I would make it cute, not solid, cold and luxurious, if you were ever using Japanese phones like those from KDDI au you should understand my approach, the idea is a very close relationship between the phone as an object and its owner. Phone is also an object of interior when it is just laying on your table or anywhere else. So it is an universality though individuality. I’m making a there for my self yet if you like it you are welcome.
1 – question: At the present moment I have the following question – it seems that icons in main menu could not be animated or am I wrong? Why in every custom theme they are not yet in the default one they are animated? One more thing is that I’m quite busy and using Windows XP x64 I can not try every thing on my phone and have to draw every single detail and only then upload it to my phone from my friend’s computer so you should wait quite a bit before release.
