Hello fellas,
As first I have a Sony Ericsson K750i, so every post I make will be either regarding Sony Ericsson phones in general (which will be very little) or for K750i phones.
As for many phones, so for the SE - there are a lot of programs you can use to connect the phone with PC.
Here I am going to state the programs I use and have used, and their short features.
1. The PC Suite (the one that usually comes when buying the SE phone) ain't quite good. Each SE user that has used the PS Suite isn't satisfied. The thing is that from that CD (or the program) you can use the drivers for the specific phone because the other programs need them in order to work. You can download the PC Suite from the Official Sony Ericsson site. (I will post a new thread for the drivers where I will post a link for the drivers I have so far).
Features: The pc suite is OK, because the main interaction is going trough a user-frinedly interface but there are some features that are missing and I phone-pc connection program should have – reading sms, writing sms, editing profiles and similar – you cannot do this with the PC Suite. The pc suite is mainly for transferring files on the phone memory. The transfer on the memory card is being done with Windows Explorer.
2. For slow computer (and for fast ones, of course) I use the program called MyPhoneExlplorer. It is a shareware, but if you like it – you can donate for it via pay pall (believe me, if I could, I would’ve definitely donated). You can download the latest version from the official site: MyPhoneExplorer or on the same page you can choose to download the previous version. I use this program regularly and I would've recommend it to every Sony Ericsson user.
Features (info from the official web site):
• Adressbook - direct sync to Outlook, Outlook Express and Thunderbird
• Organizer with calendar view and direct sync to Outlook, Sunbird, Thunderbird, Rainlendar and net shared calendars (WebDAV, FTP)
• SMS - archive, export, import, excessive messages,...
• File browser with cache system to minimize data transfer...
• Set phone clock based on atom time
• Handle your calls via PC
• and much more. f.e.: call lists, edit profiles, phone monitor,...
Supported phones:
MyPhoneExplorer is designed for Sony Ericsson K700,K750,K800 - but it works with every Sony Ericsson-phone except the symbian-based phones (P-series, M600, W950)
The program is around 2.5 MB.
3. float’s Mobile Agent.
Float’s Mobile Agent is a powerful phone editing tool that allows you to easily manage all personal data stored on your phone, via a number of different connections methods. It allows easy management of Phonebook (both SIM and Phone memory), SMS, Profiles, and Files stored on the phone. It can also allow you to pickup and dial calls directly from your PC.
This program requires more resources and it has many options that a normal SE phone user doesn’t need. I recommend it for faster computers because of the memory usage. You can download it here: Float's Mobile Agent] (it is around 9 MB).
;D
