Mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson said on 14 October it planned to shift its "entire portfolio to smartphones during 2012" as it reported its third quarter results, DPA reported.
Sony Ericsson continued to migrate its smartphones to the Android operating system, and estimated such phones accounted for over 80% of total sales.
"We will continue to invest in the smartphone market, shifting the entire portfolio to smartphones during 2012," chief executive Bert Nordberg said in a comment.
The group said it delivered about 9.5 million handsets during the third quarter, down 9 % year-on-year but up 25% on the second quarter where deliveries were affected by earthquake-related supply chain constraints in Japan.
The group said it improved its quarter-on-quarter results, erasing a net loss of € 50 million ($ 70 million) in the second quarter to a zero result for the third quarter.
The group made a net profit of €49 million in the same period last year.
