You know when the windows has a memory dump and the blue screen appears and the system craches - some call it - blue-screen effect. I have a similar effect on my siemens CX70. I call it - "fade-to-black" effect. The phone shuts off by itself. It just lays on the table, and the next thing - the screen turns black and the phone shuts off.... but with fade out effect. Like a blinking but only once (it's really hard to eplain). In the past week this has been hapening once too often. Two days ago I installed a java game, and after the install has been completed - I run the game. As waiting for the load to finish, the phone faded-out. I turned it on, started the game again - everything ok. This is also hapening in stand-by mode... it just fades...
Has any of you guys has had this sort of problem and can someone help me out here.
I don't think that the SW is wrong.. I've been using the SW for 6 months now, the phone worked perfect... until a week ago... I have 2 MB of free memory, the sim card is half full, so is the phonebook. I really don't know what the problem could be.

Try to reinstall the FW again, and format the phone.

Man, backup the phone with MPM, if you can. MPM have one easy backup function that backup everything.

I know, but it doesn't back up the different profiles, as well as the bookmarks and some other stuff... It doesn't back-ups the different ringtones set to each phonebook group and the settings for mms, wap and grps ... . I've tried this. On Christmass Eve (at my place, Chrsitmass is on 07 January) I was curios about what will happen if I try the format option. Before formating I made a complete backup and formated. After the format I restored te phone---the midi's, the pictures, the animation were all there... but the settigns were not. I'll se what I can do... today it hasn't faded, not even once... I'll wait and see what will happen in the next few days, if the provlem still persists, I will have to format it.. .

Interesting... but I already have one big paper put there... I put it after 2 months I bought the phone because the vibrator made the lid of the batery shake thus creating a miserable noise... I hope it will get better by itself Btw, gr8 idea.. I'll try to clean the battery connectors with an alcohol, maybe it will help..

do not wet it! Instead, sure one Q-tip w\ alcohol.

Alcohol cannot hurt the electronics, and evaporates very quickly anyway. But using a Q-tip is smart.

indeed, when any PCB got wet with water, we can submerge the PCB in alcohol to remove the water molecules from it and avoid short-circuits and water corrotion. Batteries are allways more sensible, and the Q-tip will help you cleaning the contacts with precision

I don't suppose that you guys thought that I was going to sink the battery into alcohol - I always use some kind of a towel - mostly I use those ear-things with cotton . And sometimes, instead of alcohol I use colone water or nailer polisher remover-it cleans perfectly .

just be carefull with the nail poslisher - it really wipes out everything it touches... I once used cotton and nail posliher to clean my Hi-Fi and I wiped out the numbers on it for the Hz (for radio frequencies)....
