Hi all! I've purchased probably the last S65 brand new in Mexico (it was discontinued 3 years ago, so there is NO support either from BenQ nor the carrier). Every time I power it up, there is a message like "Card programming error". To fix it I formatted the phone but after doing it, I lost 4 important capabilities: T9, voice recognition, multilingual translation and image handling (color, sharpness, contrast and resizing on already-taken images). I've already upgraded from FW 43 to 50 to 58 with no positive result. FFS init files, flashing programs and papua utilities cannot connect to the phone (which is odd as WinSwup does the job all right). Can any one help me. Thanks!

Thank you very much SandStorm!!! Now I can see why you are so well regarded in other forums.
I am using a chinese clone of a DCA-510 which helped me with mi former MC60 and CX65, I bought it 3 years ago.
Any idea regarding the message "Card programming error"?
¡Un abrazo!

man, skip the last 2 files i gave you -_-' (well, the photo editor will work anyway)They are for SL65 phones and compatible R65 platform phones with 130x130 pixels display You got the S65, (136x172 pixels display) well, ok, that one got a card reader, so, take out the RS-MMC card and format it in the computer in FAT16 (FAT) file format. only cards around 1Gb are sure to work, and single voltage, because some dual-voltage cards won't go.
about your cables, check the drivers, if it is all correctly set up, and whyle doing on the phone *#06# + 'more' scroll down to 'acc' and check if while the cable is plugged in the phone and pc, appears there the phone model.
otherwise you can try to tweak the cable.

Thanks Sir!!!!
T9 working again.
PhotoEditor is very near to what I had.
The cable is OK; on the *#06# stuff, phone reports to be hooked to a DCA-510.
Regarding the error message, the phone displays it with or without the RS-MMC plugged. I think it has to do either with the very first data load or with a real damaged part within the phone, either way I have no option to diagnose it or solve it as of now.
Three final questions:
A. On voice recognition I didn't explain myself: the phone had a "voice commanded dialing" which I erased after formatting the phone (not the RC-MMC), Do you know how to recover this capability? I recorded new "voice tags" but they are used to identify calls from "groups".
B. I downloaded OD program but it cannot connect to the the phone; OD identifies correctly both, port and speed, but displays "port occupied by other application" "unplug and replug the phone". I've done that with no further advance. Do have any suggestions?
C. Do you know how I can "un-pack" *.bin archives like FuBu's or FFS'? With that functionality I would be able to reload "not hidden" files to the phone at least.
Thank you very much for your support, I really really appreciate it!!!
¡Un abrazo!

currently i cannot run od in my OS's, but there's one alternative in VisSie from 7soft.de or S25@once, but support OD alike stuff. usually with od, we used to do this: www.sandstormrs.proboards105.com/index.cgi?board=software&action=display&thread=489because once we use MPM, or SDS, it block the access, and even if you close them, the access still locked. voice command, that's weird for a phone to loose one firmware stuff, and atm i don't remember if it had voice dialing... maybe it was a java app too? we can unpack the FFSinit we get in this way: start winswup and leave it running create a shortcut ro FFSINIT and add parameter /UNZIP to commandline (must be capital letters) start FFSINIT with this shortcut a folder FFSTool will appear with the content from FFSINIT anyway, a link for them here: allsiemens.com/flash/S65.htm

Ave SandStrom!!!
Almost everything went just great!!
To unhide folders I found VSFE024 (instead of OD), files need to be loaded one by one.
Regarding Voice command, for sure I'll miss it; I will digg on it later.
The "programming error" keeps coming up, as I've lived with it since I purchased the cell-phone I think I'll survive it.
Finally, DSE softkeys editor cannot reach the unit. Also added it to my "To digg on" list.
Regardless, I really appreciate your kind and patient support.
If any one in the forum think I would be of any help, email me: rilorence at gmail dot com

DSE, i had this generic info for locked softkeys (example of vodafone phones)
Go to the program, and on left softkey task, right click, and select flag. then choose ask, and click on save!
so, i at the moment only accessed mine with the COM1 port (yup, i am using my flasher cable)
still, long time ago, in the old computer (pentium III at 1.000mhz) i used my DCA-540 cable under windows 2000 pro without problem for DSE. let's try this, make sure MPM or any MPM archives aren't loading when the computer turns on.
