After the, closure of BenQ Mobile (Former Siemens Mobile), BenQ had a short period of life focusing on it's home market, until ceasing th emobile activity.
Then, the sub-brand Qisda emerged, but little to nothing was heard ever again.
Back in 2009, rumors started about possible android phones from BenQ...
...Until now.
BenQ is getting serious in entering the mobile market again, market that saw the coming of chinese manufacturers like ZTE and Huawei growing like there's no tomorrow,
A market that even dictated the recent acquisition of Nokia by Microsoft. A ever growing and changing mobile world.
The mobile phone market will soon have to welcome Taiwan’s BenQ back as it has been reported that it wants to make a come back after closing the phone division in 2008.
This time the company will not be manufacturing new phones but will be rebranding the models that were assembled by Qisda on its behalf.
BenQ is expected to start with two entry-level smartphones for the Taiwanese market, the BenQ A3 and the BenQ F3.
The BenQ A3 is powered by a Qualcomm quad-core processor and equipped with a 4.5-inch qHD display and 8-megapixel camera, while the BenQ F3 will be powered by a MediaTek 1.2GHz quad-core MT6589 CPU and packs a 4.5-inch qHD display and 12-megapixel camera, revealed the sources.
Having a short lived high-profile mobile division, the Taiwanese company had bought a handset division form Siemens in 2005 but stopped the division’s funding where it had filed for bankruptcy in late 2006.
The bankruptcy sparked controversy over whether the Taiwanese firm had bought the Siemens division simply to gain its IP assets and had always intended to close down the German factories. It later released more phones supplied by its Taiwan factories, but stopped production in 2008.
BenQ currently focuses on marketing monitors, LCD TVs and projectors.
With new gadgets coming up every now and then and the rapid growth of the industry would anyone want to buy one that was there before? What really made BenQ reconsider the venture are they sure they will keep up with the pace as a lot has happened in the market since 2008.

Is good to remember, BenQ got some of the old Siemens Patents. And these smartphones names, A3 and F3, can be reminiscent of the old Siemens branding techniques. (early 90's, Siemens P1, S4, S6...)
For low entry phones, the A3 and F3 seem fairly nice, 4 cores, for a segment we still see a couple of single-cores running around (and some low sped dual-cores at no more than 1.2ghz), with still sub-4" displays. And hopefully will have better quality than ZTE. Because, afteral... BenQ had to learn something from the past, right?
After the old mobile brand BenQ faded away from Taiwan market and shifted their focus to Mobile Internet Device (MID) development, BenQ occasionally launched tablets, even a 5.8-inch foldable double screen smartphone, BenQ Gemini which won iF communication design award in 2010 but was not for sale in the end. According to NCC News revealed, two devices BenQ A3, F3 smartphones filed by BenQ have acquired certification manufactured by the Suzhou Qisda foundry. Another news revealed that both devices pack 4.5-inch qHD screen, run on Android operating system, have a built-in 1GB RAM / 4GB ROM, 2megapixel front camera, and 2,100 mAh battery capacity; BenQ A3 features Qualcomm MSM8005Q quad-core processor, 8-megapixel camera, while BenQ F3 has a MediaTek MediaTek MT6589, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, a 13-megapixel camera. All information above is not confirmed by BenQ.
